RULES

(Approved by the FIT Council at its meeting in Geneva in April 1998)

Article 1

Pierre-François Caillé was the founder of FIT. The Pierre-François Caillé Memorial Medal is intended to provide recognition to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional merit in promoting the status and reputation of the translation profession at the international level.

Article 2

The medal may be awarded at FIT World Congresses, although the jury is not re- quired to make the award at every World Congress.

Article 3

The recipient of the Pierre-François Caillé Memorial Medal must be a member in good standing of a FIT member.

Article 4

Nominations for the Medal may be made by FIT members or by individual members of such members.

Article 5

The FIT Council shall act as the jury for this award. The Council’s decision requires a two-thirds majority by secret ballot. In the event that a member of the Council is nominated for the Medal, he or she shall be excluded from the discussion as well as from the ballot.

Article 6

No one may be awarded the Pierre-François Caillé Memorial Medal more than once.

Article 7

Nominations shall be submitted in electronic format and on the official form to the FIT secretariat no later than six months prior to the opening of the Congress at which the Medal is to be awarded.

Nominations should be submitted in both French and English if at all possible, otherwise in one of the two languages.

Article 8

Anything not provided for in these rules may be decided by the FIT Awards Committee
